 Blueprint to End Illiteracy Goals & Strategies: Goal 1:
Enhance information sharing between literacy service providers and
increase public awareness of illiteracy in Washtenaw County. - Publish a directory of local literacy services.
- Develop a comprehensive, user-friendly website.
- Implement a public awareness campaign.
Goal 2: Expand services to cultivate superior literacy skills for all residents of Washtenaw County. - Develop an integrated network of literacy services.
- Design innovative programs to break the cycle of illiteracy for basic skills .
- Implement strategies to enhance workplace/computer, financial, and health literacy.
- Build the capacity of existing service providers to serve a greater number of individuals and families in the community.
- Deliver
accessible, comprehensive literacy programs for residents, from birth
to adulthood, in the geographical areas of the county with the greatest
need.
Goal 3: Build the infrastructure of the Washtenaw County Literacy Coalition to support long-term sustainability. - Cultivate strong partnerships to attract sustainable financial support for literacy programs.
- Create
a Washtenaw County "Literacy Hub" to serve as a central point of
contact for information, education, training, and referrals.
- Track county-wide literacy data to confirm the magnitude of the problem and monitor program outcomes.
